29-07-2015 10:42

The European Union may provide up to EUR75 million in support for civil service reform in Ukraine if the government and parliament adopt relevant documents on time, deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential administration Dmitry Shymkiv has said.

Shymkiv recalled that the EU and Ukraine signed a contract for the development of the state in May 2014, according to which Ukraine can receive EUR105 million (the second tranche of the assistance) already this year if a number of conditions are met. One of them is the development and approval of a full and detailed plan for reforming the public sector, which requires the parliament to adopt a new law on public service. In addition to EUR105 million for the development of the state, Ukraine may get up to EUR75 million in support for the civil service reform. In order to receive these funds, in addition to the civil service law, the Cabinet should develop, approve and submit to the EU the strategy for public administration reform together with its implementation plan, the responsible persons and deadlines.
